Is it definitely biodegradable?

Hey, don’t worry, we don’t mind you fact checking. It’s a big claim so you need to be sure. Our pillows have been tested according to ASTM procedures and regulations. You can read more about the tests, and the results here but for those of you who just want to skip to the good part, the answer is YES. In accelerated test conditions, Biosnooze fibres reach near complete biodegradation* in under two years, while standard polyester remains almost completely intact.

Will it biodegrade whilst I’m using it?

No. The biodegradable* technology is only activated in specific environments like landfills, wastewater systems, and ocean water, so it won’t degrade during use. When in such environments, our fibre breaks down at a highly- accelerated rate compared to standard polyester, helping to reduce the long-term impact of plastic waste and microplastic pollution.

Is it suitable for people with asthma?

Absolutely. Our pillows are hypoallergenic so are perfect for event he most sensitive of sleepers!

Where is my pillow made?

Right here in the UK. Biosnooze is the first & only UK manufactured 100% biodegradable, polyester down alternative pillow. Keeping our carbon footprint as small as we possibly can is super important to us so we aren’t about to start racking up serious airmiles by having our pillows made overseas. In fact our pillows are made in Nottinghamshire where we’ve been making industry leading, multi-award winning sustainable bedding for decades, as Penrose Products.

Do you make anything else?

Right now, our Biosnooze Original Pillow is an only child. BUT she has loads of cousins. Our sister company, Penrose Products have been manufacturing award winning sustainable bedding made from natural fibres for over 16 years. In fact, Penrose is one the UK’s leading makers of Alpaca fibre bedding. Penrose is also a member of Walpole, the official sector body for UK luxury. Biosnooze is the product of years of development and our latest innovation. You can read more about our history here.

How do I look after my pillow?

We’re so committed to making our pillows as environmentally friendly as possible that we’ve even got rid of the conventional sateen care label (because sateen won’t biodegrade). In its place you’ll find a QR code (printed using vegetable based ink of course). Simply scan the code with your phone’s camera and it will take you to a dedicated ‘Care Page’ with all the instructions you need to help keep your pillow in prime slumber inducing condition!

Are your pillows definitely vegan?

100%. We aren’t denying that down pillows feel great. But if we used real down or feather, our conscience seriously wouldn’t. In our opinion there is no such thing as a cruelty free, real down pillow. Which is why our pillow is made from 100% recycled plastic, that is so finely blown it feels just like the real thing. We think it’s THE BEST down alternative.
